The Plundering of the Past

Updated: Feb 2, 2023

I hear the Lord speaking loudly, demonstratively, emphatically to His people "Today, I am letting it be known that your past has now become the object of your greatest spoils. What was intended to devastate you is now available as a harvest for you to be gathered up and received as food for today and seed to sow for tomorrow's provision. Every misstep, sin, curse, generational bondage, lie, wound, yes, every single thing that you have done wrong or wrong that has been done to you - through the cross and the divine timing of the Lord - is now yours to be aggressively pursued as a reward."

Scripture References:

  • The nation of Egypt which had enslaved the people of Israel for 400 years, in one day, gave up all their wealth thus making the poor - rich, slaves - free. The "suddenly" of God came and His people plundered their oppressors.

Exodus‬ ‭12‬:‭33‬-‭36‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The Egyptians [anxiously] urged the people [to leave], to send them out of the land quickly, for they said, “We will all be dead.” So the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls being bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. Now the Israelites had acted in accordance with the word of Moses; and they had asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing. The Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they gave them what they asked. And so they plundered the Egyptians [of those things].”‭‭

  • The Israelites trembled in fear over the nations the Lord told them they would inherit. The Lord tells them that HE will cause the nations to "dread" and "fear" and that their enemies will "tremble" because of THEM. Our God is the God of the turnaround. He flips the tables on the enemy, pulls the rug out from under them, and causes their evil plans to work against them. While His people ride off in safety, and even better, into victory.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬ ‭AMP

"This day I will begin to put the dread and the fear of you on the peoples (pagans) under the whole heaven, who, when they hear the reports about you, will tremble and be in anguish because of you.’”‭‭

Zechariah‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

““Hear, Zion (Jerusalem)! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon!” For thus says the Lord of hosts, “After glory He has sent Me against the nations which plunder you—for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye. Behold, I will wave my hand over them and they shall become plunder for their own slaves. Then you shall know (recognize, understand fully) that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.”

‭‭

  • It is the way of the Kingdom of God for the righteous to inherit. It is also the way of the Kingdom for the people of God to reap where they have not sown, harvest what was planted by another, to receive freely what we could not attain on our own.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭22‬ ‭AMP

‬‬ “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for [the hands of] the righteous.”

Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭24‬ ‭AMP

‬‬ ““The one who had received one talent also came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a harsh and demanding man, reaping [the harvest] where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter seed.”‭‭

Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭AMP

‬‬ ““Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore (solemnly promised) to [give] your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give you, [a land with] great and splendid cities which you did not build, and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn (excavated) cisterns (wells) which you did not dig out, and vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are full and satisfied, then beware that you do not forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”‭‭

  • All of this is made possible by the work of Jesus through the cross. His obedience unto death is not only eternal life to ALL who believe in Him, but it also reversed the curse of death and defeated the powers of hell. He has made a way for us to plunder our past because He FIRST plundered death, hell, and the grave! He receives the first fruits of heaven and the full reward of His work, US. He did it all so we could be His inheritance. It is our responsibility to plunder our past to receive the reward He already won, just as it is our responsibility to call ALL OF CREATION to worship Jesus. The whole earth WILL be filled with His glory, and HE DESERVES IT ALL!!!!

‬‬

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭AMP

“As a result of the anguish of His soul, He shall see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge [of what He has accomplished] the Righteous One, My Servant, shall justify the many [making them righteous—upright before God, in right standing with Him], For He shall bear [the responsibility for] their sins. Therefore, I will divide and give Him a portion with the great [kings and rulers], And He shall divide the spoils with the mighty, Because He [willingly] poured out His life to death, And was counted among the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore and took away the sin of many, And interceded [with the Father] for the transgressors.”
